For good services, your data is indispensable

Your personal data is important to us. Without your data, such as your name and address, we are unable to enter into an agreement with you and unable to help you as a customer. This is why we collect, use and store your personal data. We always handle this data with care.

What is personal data?

Personal data says something about you, such as your name, date of birth or account number. We ask for this type of data, for example, when you take out a mortgage, pension or insurance policy.

We handle your personal data with care

Our Privacy statement explains how we handle your personal data. It sets out how we protect your data and what rights you have. Of course, we adopt the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). We have listed the most important points from the Privacy statement here below.

This is how we look after your personal data

We use your data for clearly defined purposes only

The most important purpose for using your data is to carry out an agreement. When you take out a product with us, you are entering into an agreement and for that we need your data. Our customer service department also uses your data to help you. We can also use your data to estimate risks, to prevent fraud and to tailor our communications and services to your personal situation. Sometimes, we are also required by law to collect specific personal data, such as your Citizen Service Number (Burgerservicenummer) if you open a savings account with us or have a pension with us.

We never share your data with third parties without reason

We never sell your data to third parties. We do, however, share your data with others if it is necessary to carry out your agreement. If you have a non-life insurance policy with us, we can use your personal data, for example, to send a loss adjuster to you to assess damage. We also share your data with third parties if the law requires us to do so, if you have given us your permission, or if we have valid reasons for doing so, such as to combat fraud.

You can check, change and transfer your personal data

When it comes to your personal data, you have a number of rights. You can, for example, always access your most important personal data via your personal environment, mijn.nn. You can change specific personal data, or we can do it for you. At your request, we can transfer your data to you or to a different service provider. In some cases, we can remove data for you.

We ensure that your data is properly secured

Your personal data is always properly secured, and specialist staff constantly monitor the security of our data traffic. We take immediate action should anything ever go wrong. If necessary, we report this to the supervisory authorities and to you.
