Nationale-Nederlanden steunt tentoonstelling Lust for Life van Ed van der Elsken
Het Nederlands Fotomuseum in Rotterdam heeft de restauratie van kleurenfoto’s van fotograaf Ed van der Elsken afgerond en viert dat deze zomer met de tentoonstelling Lust for Life. Het is het eerste overzicht van Van der Elsken’s kleurenwerk met de grootste iconen en niet eerder getoond werk.
Het Nederlands Fotomuseum in Rotterdam heeft de restauratie van kleurenfoto’s van fotograaf Ed van der Elsken afgerond en viert dat deze zomer met de tentoonstelling Lust for Life. Het is het eerste overzicht van Van der Elsken’s kleurenwerk met de grootste iconen en niet eerder getoond werk. Rond universele thema’s als liefde, leven en dood brengt Ed van der Elsken met zijn kleurenfotografie een ode aan de mens en het leven. Nationale-Nederlanden is als partner verbonden aan het Nederlands Fotomuseum en steunt deze tentoonstelling, die vanaf morgen tot zondag 6 oktober 2019 te bezoeken is.
Ed van der Elsken’s werk is geliefd bij alle generaties. Bij het fotograferen maakte hij vaak contact met mensen over de hele wereld, en zijn energieke, extraverte karakter tekent dan ook zijn werk. Deze tentoonstelling was niet mogelijk geweest zonder de restauratie van alle kleurenfoto’s. In 2016 luidde het museum de noodklok: de schimmel op de kleurendia’s van Ed moest per direct worden verwijderd, anders zou zijn kleurenwerk voorgoed verloren gaan.
Mede dankzij de steun van Nationale-Nederlanden kon het museum in 2016 van start met het grootste fotorestauratieproject uit zijn geschiedenis waardoor ruim 42.000 dia’s zijn behouden voor de toekomst.
Dailah Nihot, lid van de Management Board van NN Group: “Om zoveel mogelijk mensen van het werk van Ed van der Elsken te laten genieten, kunnen ook bezoekers van het NN North Sea Jazz festival in Rotterdam Ahoy een deel van de foto’s bekijken. Samen met het festival en het Nederlands Fotomuseum presenteren we daar een unieke pop-up tentoonstelling van een selectie uit Lust for Life.”
Nationale-Nederlanden, onderdeel van NN Group, ondersteunt specifieke collectietentoonstellingen en projecten die gericht zijn op behoud en presentatie van het Nederlands visueel erfgoed.
