NN ondertekent statement tegen illegale visserij

Als één van de grotere Nederlandse verzekeraars op het gebied van vissersschepen ondertekent NN Group vandaag het Marine Insurance Statement ter bestrijding van de illegale visserij.

De ecosystemen van de oceanen lijden onder klimaatverandering, vervuiling en overbevissing. Illegale, niet-gerapporteerde en ongereguleerde visserij (Illegal, Unreported en Unrelated, IUU) ontwrichten deze systemen. Dit is voor de Europese Unie reden geweest om ruim honderd schepen die zich schuldig maken aan IUU visserij op een zwarte lijst te zetten. Met de ondertekening van het Marine Insurance Statement geeft NN Group aan geen schepen van de zwarte lijst te verzekeren. Daarnaast gaat NN actief in gesprek met haar relaties om bewustzijn over dit onderwerp te creëren. 

Oceana, de grootste internationale organisatie met volledige focus op conservatie van oceanen, heeft samen met PSI (Principles for Sustainable Insurance) en internationale verzekeraars het Marine Insurance Statement voor de verzekeringsindustrie ontwikkeld. Met ondertekening voegt NN zich bij andere internationale verzekeraars die het Statement ook ondertekend hebben.

Bewustzijn
